Privacy Policy

Dilse (“the app”) is an Android catalogue of WhatsApp status lines, shayari, festival wishes and jokes, published as com.dip2018.englishstatus (formerly Best SMS and Best Status). This policy explains what stays on your phone, what the advertising and analytics software in the app may collect, and how to contact us.

The short version

The lines you browse ship inside the app. Favourites and the messages you write yourself are stored only on this device. We run no backend and you have no account.

The app does show ads (Google AdMob) and records anonymous usage with Firebase Analytics. Those services are operated by Google, not by us. We do not sell your information.

Lines, favourites and your own messages

Bundled lines live in SQLite files packed into the app. They are copied into the app’s private storage so they can be read offline, and are never uploaded.
Favourites and messages you compose are stored in a local database on the phone. Other apps cannot read them. Uninstalling Dilse deletes them.
Copy and share use Android’s clipboard and the system share sheet. Once you share a line it goes to the app you chose, and we are not in that path.

We have no copy of your favourites or your own messages, and no way to obtain one.

Advertising

The app uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob), with Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) for consent.

Banners appear inside the line lists, roughly every five lines. An interstitial may appear after every fourth share, and an ad may appear when you return to the app after leaving it. Browse, Saved, Mine and Settings carry no ads.
The extra Status Studio styles are unlocked by choosing to watch a short rewarded video. Watching is always optional and the app is fully usable without it.
Google may use an advertising identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and network information, and your interaction with ads, as described in Google’s advertising privacy policy.
Where required, including the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, UMP asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change advertising consent from the ads controls in your device settings.

Debug builds of the app use Google’s sample ad units and never request live ads.

Analytics

The app includes Firebase Analytics. Google may record events such as app opens and screen views, along with device and app version information. We use this to understand which collections people read, not to identify you. Details are in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Permissions

Permission	Why
`INTERNET`	To load ads and send Firebase Analytics events.
`ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE`	So ads and analytics can tell whether the device is online.

The app does not ask for contacts, SMS, location, camera, microphone or storage access.

Children

The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

This policy is published here and a copy of it ships inside the app, so you can read it without a connection. If it changes, this page is updated first and the date above changes with it; the copy in the app catches up when you next update. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes on Google Play.
